The May 13 West County Democrats meeting will feature Tony Messenger who will provide an overview of the  Better Together City-County merger proposal.  He has written a number of columns on the issues and presented the pros and cons as more information has become available to the public.

Professor Allan MacNeill of Webster University presented the truth about the GDP, the Job Numbers and the U.S. Stock Market. While these statistics are often use by politicians and pundits to exhibit the health of the economy, they don’t really present an accurate picture of the underlying state of our country.

Stop Settling!

As long as Missourians elect Republicans who place cutting taxes before educating kids and other critical needs, things will get worse. The time has come to stop settling for mediocre politicians unwilling to lead the state forward. Current elected officials must be told again and again that we want them to remember that state motto before every vote.

The Lost

Last week I talked with Democratic lawmakers and a couple of budget wonks about Missouri’s situation. All of us agree that things are bad and will get worse.

Pesky Rules

I expect the legislature to gleefully pass strict work hour and tracking bills. Then, nothing will happen, nothing will change since Washington can’t approve the skimpy plan. Damn Pesky federal rules.
