A crowd of nearly 20 people attended the 2nd meeting of the Chesterfield Democratic Township, Tuesday, March 7th at Chesterfield City Hall. The meeting was hosted and facilitated by Marty Maurer and Brian Legate, veterans of campaigns for Barrack Obama and Bill Otto. Marti Maurer and Brian Legate represent the Chesterfield Township to the Missouri Democratic Party.
Speaking to the group was Zach Goldford a candidate for the Parkway School Board. Zach spoke about fiscal responsibility in administering a school district. More specifically Mr. Goldford felt it his responsibility when elected to “protect the taxpayers interests and do what he can to assure return-on-taxpayer-investment.”
His platform for accomplishing this consists focusing on efficiency, effectiveness and equity for all students, administrators, teachers and staff in the Parkway School District.
Zach is a graduate of Parkway West, class of 2011, and is a veteran of the Bernie Sanders and Bill Otto campaigns. He describes himself as a Progressive and is seeking his first elected position on April 4th. If you are in the Parkway School District get more information at facebook.com/goldfordforparkway.
The meeting continued with an open discussion among the participants sharing information and ideas for organizing and action. A common feeling in the room was that, while there is a lot of action going on, it doesn’t seem to be focused. Organizations such as Indivisible St. Louis, Mobilize Missouri, and Justice Missouri were offered as possible focus points.
Mayor Bob Nations also spoke to the group informing them he was a candidate for Mayor in Chesterfield seeking his second term. Opposing him is Randy Logan, Ward 1 Councilman, who was not in attendance.
Chesterfield Democratic Township meets the first Tuesday of every month. Next meeting is April 4, again at the Chesterfield City Hall.
