The national Democratic Party is increasing its support to candidates running for state legislators and other down ballot posts. Jessica Post, executive director of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Com
mittee – and a graduate of Lafayette High School – shared that message on Sunday afternoon, March 19th at the Gateway Democrats meeting.
Democrats from about the region gathered at the Carpenter’s Hall on Hampton Avenue to hear from Jessica and representatives from better than two-dozen advocacy groups. Coalitions formed since the November election, as well as long-established groups (including West County Democrats), environmental groups and others working for social justice ha
d information tables. Each group also had a chance to address the hundreds in attendance.
The Carpenter’s Union hosted the event and gave information on efforts to move against Right To Work and promote family values.
