See that silvery “H” next to the sidewalk?
That’s all that remains of my Doug Beck for State Senate yard sign. My signs supporting Jill Schupp and Ann Zimpher were taken too. This happened on a sunny afternoon on a main street traveled by a couple of thousand cars a day.
Don’t worry: according to the responding member of the St. Louis County Police Department, Officer Wolfram in car D406, stealing political signs isn’t illegal.
You see, I didn’t pay for the signs, therefore they have no value.
Let’s not forget that the county police are a part of the St. Louis County Republican Party. Remember, the officers’ association leader ran in 2018 for state rep as a Republican, two members appeared as county police officers in TV ads supporting Republicans, and, the former chief was elected to the county council as a Republican.
In other words, I don’t expect them to put Sherlock Holmes on this case and we can all expect a lot more signs to disappear since, well, it’s not a thing.
