During our May meeting we had a lively discussion with Ted House, a long serving Democratic legislator and elected Judge in St. Charles County. His perspective on the state of partisan politics in our nation and in Missouri was very interesting. The video of our meeting may be viewed here:
The text of Glenn Koenen’s legislative report may be found here.
Comments and Questions for Judge House and Glenn Koenen
Mary Gross: What is the location of July 12 meeting?
Karen Cloyd: Faust Park in a pavilion…we’ll put up signs
Karen Cloyd: WCD P.O. Box 31034 St. Louis 63131
Florence Pullen: Creve Coeur and Maryland Heights Townships meeting on May 17, 2021. Michael Butler will be the Speaker
Dennis Lavallee: Dems had a strong presence when you were there. How did Dems fail to result in such a GOP majority?
Mary Gross: I met an elderly white woman in Chesterfield who told me that DT was sent by God, is divine, and is expected to be flawed. Those flaws are accepted by Christians.
Ellen Wentz: Do you feel like the Dems are doing a good job of controlling the message and taking it back from the Republicans?
Dianne Modrell: Shame – DT flaws not accepted by my Christianity!
Dennis Lavallee: Drawing on your expertise as a legislator and a judge … With the MO Attorney General sworn to protect the MO Constitution, is he therefore required to protect Medicaid expansion against the GOP budget defunding by the Legislature when a law suit is brought against the defunding.
Dianne Modrell: Who might defeat Rep. Wagner? Schupp had best chance and came close.
Maureen Jordan: I read “Don’t Think of an Elephant”. There is a majority Evangelical belief in “family values” bent on white male head of household followed by wife, and children. Anyone of color follows with LGBT at the bottom. They have nothing to do with Jesus or his teachings.
Maureen Jordan: If you understand their brand of Christianity then thinking Trump was ordained by God fits into their white nationalist beliefs. It all makes sense.
Dianne Modrell: Support Rep. LIZ CHENEY – let Rep. Wagner know we want to back LIZ,,,
Maureen Jordan: I wish that Jill would run again. It is not a presidential year. Things can change.
Grace James: Can a Democrat win Blunt’s seat.?
Vickie Hankammer: How can the MO government legally continue to over ride the vote of the people?
Dianne Modrell: Mr. House has been a great speaker. Good wisdom to share. Thanks!
Mary Gross: Thank you Judge House!
Maureen Jordan: I am on Board at Planned Parenthood. We are following the Medicaid birth control issue closely. We are told that Biden will fight any efforts to defund us and defend Medicaid birth control. We are watching this closely.
Dianne Modrell: Thanks Glenn
