The frail looking white haired woman waited, in the airline’s wheelchair, for pre-boarding for the flight from Houston to St. Louis. She never smiled as the young airline worker took her onto the jet.
At Lambert the woman again had a wheelchair – which she pushed, full of carry-on bags for all of her party, to a waiting minivan.
The pre-board con on Southwest Airlines hits most every flight. The same week I traveled my sister-in-law watched a guy preboarded in a wheelchair jump out of his seat, grab his bags from the overhead and run to be the first one off the plane at Lambert.
My mom’s Medicare number somehow got into the con-verse. One day’s mail featured a form from “her doctor” saying she needed a DNA study. On page three they highlighted a little box to initial which said if Medicare and insurance refused to pay the (never specified) cost of the test she would. “Her doctor” practices in Plant City, Florida. The same day a caller told her that her doctor had approved her for “Medicare paid” knee braces. That was news to her. Alas, in recalling the conversation she remembered that the nice person asked her several questions about her family and such, a couple of times getting her to utter the magic word, “Yes.”
Oh, con games probably pre-date the first words in the Bible. What’s new is the way they’ve permeated all levels of American society, from travelers lying and faking problems to get better seats on a crowded airliner to rows of telemarketers squeezing money out of Medicare (thereby taxpayers) and the elderly.
Of course, what should we expect in the age of Trump?
Arizona Senate hearings on the Maricopa County Election Audit is devastating news to the Radical Left Democrats and the Biden Administration…The irregularities revealed at the hearing today amount to hundreds of thousands of votes or, many times what is necessary for us to have won. Despite these massive numbers, this is the State that Fox News called early for a Biden victory. There was no victory here, or in any other of the Swing States either.
Yes, even Fox News says Joe Biden won Arizona eight months ago but the former President maintains his victory and across America was stolen from him. That’s the Big Lie, the now ‘long con.’
Worse, “Forty-six percent of Fox News Republicans completely agreed that the election was stolen (whereas 40 percent mostly agreed)…So, 86% of Fox News watching Republicans now think the election was rigged.

As of today, the long con continues. Remember the pillow guy claims Trump regains his throne – by becoming Speaker of the House of Representatives – on Friday, August 13th!
(All this mush will scramble the brains of our great grand kids in history class in 50 years.)
My mom called the Medicare fraud hotline about the knee braces and I tore-up the form for genetic testing.
That frail old lady? She went back into the airport. As my wife drove me away from the terminal I saw her rolling two monster suitcases over to that minivan.
