PRESENTATION: MO Democratic Party Chair Russ Carnahan
Russ Carnahan has served our state as a Member of the MO House of Representatives from 2001-2005, as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005-2013 from MO’s 3rd Congressional District, and since March 2023 as the Chair of the Missouri Democratic Party.
Mr. Carnahan earned both his B.S degree. in Public Administration and his J.D from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
The Carnahan Family name is well-known in service to our state. Chairman Carnahan’s father, Mel Carnahan served as MO Governor of Missouri from 1993-2000. His mother, Jean Carnahan, was appointed to fill the Senate seat of her husband, Mel Carnahan, who had been posthumously elected in 200, thus making her the first woman to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate. His sister, Robin Carnahan served as Missouri’s Secretary of State from 2005-2013.
