Presentation Topic:   “Religions and Peace: Locally and Globally”

Speaker:   Dr. David Oughton, St. Louis University

About the speaker:  Dr. David Oughton has been a board member of Citizens for Global Solutions for the past twenty-five years. He has been teaching courses in philosophy, religion, peace studies, and Holocaust studies for the last forty years. He is currently teaching courses in the world’s religions at Saint Louis University. His interdisciplinary doctorate in “Philosophies and Theologies of Peace and Justice” combined his interest in social philosophy, interreligious theology, and political science. In his dissertation, he argued that world peace requires a commitment of creative interchange among the religions and the nations of the world as well as a world federal government that would create, enforce, and adjudicate world laws. He is also a board member of the St. Louis Holocaust Museum, Interfaith Partnership, and the Living Insights Center.
