Every year WCD presents the Jo Ann Fox Hughes Award to recognize a member who promotes the vision, goals and objectives of the Democratic Party and provides service and leadership to West County Democrats and the Democratic Party at the local, state, regional and/or national levels.
The recipient this year has served WCD, the Democratic Party and our community-at-large in many capacities. As an active member of WCD he has advised our Board, educated our members with a monthly state legislative report and accepted the nomination of Co-Chair. He has served our national Democratic party by running for Congress in 2012 against Ann Wagner and our local Democratic party by running for State Representative this past election year. He served our community as Director of Circle of Concern, which WCD has adopted as its preferred charity. He works tirelessly to improve education & social services to the underserved in our area. His efforts deserve recognition with the award of this honor as an example of a true progressive Democrat.
