“A Democratic/Progressive Agenda for Missouri” on July 10, 2017

WCD Meeting Agenda – July 10, 2017

Legislative Update: A regular feature of West County Democrats general meetings is the Legislative Update presented by Glenn Koenen.  Have you ever wondered what our elected officials do aside from raising money for their next campaign?  Glenn provides a compact view of legislative initiatives proposed by our lawmakers at the national and state level.  If it is important to understand exactly what our officials are doing or not doing to improve the well being, health and safety of our community, you can always find his summary on the Legislative Issues page.

Presentation Topic:  “A Democratic/Progressive Agenda for Missouri”

Speakers:   Rep. Deb Lavender,Sen. Jill Schupp and Sen. Scott Sifton

Description: What should Missouri Democrats propose for Missourians? As The Nation editor Katrina Vanden Heuvel remarked on a recent Sunday panel, “Democrats need to become the party of proposition, not opposition.” In these successful legislators’ views, what does the Missouri Democratic Party propose to voters in 2018? What matters should be on the Democratic Party agenda in Missouri and how can we influence people with open minds to join us in reaching these goals?

In her 90th district (Kirkwood, Warson Woods, Glendale, portions of Sunset Hills and Webster Groves), she organized several town meetings to overflow audiences and participated in West County Dems’ Workshop Series for New Democratic Candidates. She is a physical therapist with a practice in Kirkwood.

Her commitment to children and education will never waver as she backs bills protecting our youngest and oldest Missourians, supporting veterans, promoting quality education, expanding health care access and creating jobs and opportunities for economic growth.
