Can you feel it yet? That sense of relief when the weight of work and life is taken off of your shoulders as you get closer to the holiday break? Looking forward to communing with family and friends at a meal, a religious service or a gift exchange? You know that warmth you feel when you drop coins in the red pots, or mail off that check your favorite charity, or work a day or two in a shelter? How about that freedom to smile even at strangers you meet and wish them a Happy New Year?
This feeling is about being included and loved for who you are. This is about generosity, kindness and compassion for everyone whose lives we touch. You may celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or not at all, but the sense is the same. We are all in the family of man and we share this time and place. Now it is our time for reflection, appreciation and love… and, maybe, maybe we can carry that peace with us into the new year.
Happy Holidays to you and your family! Wishing you all the best in the New Year!
