While presidential and national races are taking the spotlight, we have great candidates for State office in our region that need your support as well. If you want better representation in Jefferson City, please consider contributing your time and effort to these candidates.
In August our guest speaker, Dr. Dave Robertson, Political Science Department at UMSL, suffered a medical emergency which caused us to cancel the August 10 meeting. He is recovering well and provided West County Democrats with a video of the presentation he would have made to the group during our meeting.
Accept that Democrats will never get a fair shake in Missouri media. outstate local radio rules and it’s pretty dystopian. ‘They’ are always out to get ‘us.’ In the big cities the bias is slicker but no less smelly.
Our July guest will be Nancy Price, a member of the Executive Board of the League of Women Voters, Metro St. Louis. She is in charge of their Speakers’ Bureau and will be able to provide clear and timely directions and procedures for participating in this extremely important election season.
August 4 is a big day. It is the day which will greatly affect over 250,000 residents of MO. It is the day we can – and must – vote to expand Medicaid. It is the day we can save lives.
Charities will be pummeled by increased requests for help which far exceed their ability to respond. The state and federal governments, along with experts, meanwhile will keep telling people to go to charities for help.
